Hot Tub Deck Project 6

Previous     Next

Step Six: Yes, it rains a lot in Seattle. Most people don't mind sitting in a hot tub in the rain, but in this instance, a covered area was desired. The homeowners still wanted to be able to look at the night sky, so the roof was designed to carry clear panels.

The posts were incorporated into the deck framing to give them plenty of support. The joists were put up without hangers to preserve the beauty of the wood. Since the roof does not carry much load, toenails were sufficient to hold everything in place.
