Step One: Excavate for footings. The footings here will be manufactured
pier blocks set in concrete. The holes need to be dug to a depth that meets
local building codes for frost line. In this area, that is 12".
In this photo, the excavation has begun for the footings that will hold the hot tub platform.
Unfortunately, I couldn't get the homeowners' dog to help.
