This site is dedicated to
helping people with their home improvement, remodeling, and construction
questions.
I am Ken Bryan of Seattle, Washington. I worked about 25 years in various
positions as a residential remodel carpenter. During much of that time I was a
licensed contractor. I frequently worked alone (with sub-contractors as
needed), but in more recent years I had one, two, or three employees. Seattle
is a relatively young city, so the houses that I worked on were generally 20 to
90 years old.
A few years ago, I decided that I had done enough building and decided to
remodel myself. I completed the work I had going, shut down my company, and
went back to school. I have a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the University
of Washington, but I decided to try something completely different. I enrolled
in my local community college in a Network Administration program, and also
studied some computer programming. I am now working for the Veterans Hospital
in Seattle as an IT Specialist.
At the urging of friends and coworkers, many of whom like to ask questions about
their home improvement projects, I decided to set up this website. My plan is
to answer as many questions as possible from people that are thinking about or
are already involved in projects. As time allows, I will add more "How To's"
and anything else that people request. Although I have decided to do other
things, much of who I am is wrapped around houses and how they go together.
Please post your questions
now, and I will answer as soon as I can. If you like, I will notify you when my
answer to your question has been posted.
If you have an interest in hiking, you may enjoy my website
HikerKen.com
dedicated to getting outdoors. I have posted descriptions of some of my
outings, with a few pictures showing interesting and beautiful things I have
seen.
